The problem, from the inside
I took board minutes for years at City College of San Francisco. A four-hour meeting doesn’t cost four hours — it costs the meeting, then the evening replaying audio, checking who moved and who seconded, formatting the record so it survives a compliance review. Every board clerk I know carries that same invisible second shift.
The tools that existed were transcription apps. Transcription isn’t the job. The job is governance: motions, votes, parliamentary procedure, open-meeting law. So I built the tool I needed — and it turned out a lot of other clerks needed it too.
